Hosting & Getting Started
Hosting is not part of the price. Use a server in your own office, or a virtual machine from any cloud provider.
What the server needs
| Item | Requirement |
|---|---|
| System | Ubuntu 22.04 or newer, Debian 12 or newer, or RHEL, AlmaLinux or Rocky Linux 9 or newer. |
| Database | PostgreSQL 14 or newer with PostGIS 3, on the same machine. |
| Processor | At least 4 cores. More for a large organisation, or if you run Homestead. |
| Memory | At least 16 GB for several sites or with Homestead. |
| Storage | Enough for your photos and videos, plus 100 GB for Homestead’s workspace. |
| Network | A domain name with TLS that the phones can reach, behind Caddy or Nginx. |
Four steps to your first delivery
- Licence. We issue a server licence for your organisation, with the number of seats you need.
- Installation. We install Tavak Server on your machine remotely.
- Enrolment. You create your sites and enrol the crew’s phones with QR codes.
- First survey. You publish forms to the phones, and the first deliveries arrive on the server.
Installation is free during the introductory period, as long as it can be done remotely.
