GPS Tracking

Tracking modes, the accuracy gate for data capture, background recording, and GPS point averaging.

Recording: the track trails behind the position marker; the title bar counts time, points and distance.

GPS Averaging: samples collected over a timer, the averaged position with its estimated accuracy and spread, and the sample scatter.

Pausing a survey

While a survey is recording, the GPS button in the Map tab’s tools drawer is the survey’s pause button. Tap it (green pause glyph) to stop recording track points — for lunch, a drive between plots, a phone call. The survey stays active with its counts, the title bar shows an amber Paused, and nothing is written until you tap the amber play glyph to resume. The track continues with a gap where you paused. The pause survives closing the app: reopen it and the survey is still paused until you resume.

When no survey is active the same button simply turns GPS on or off.
