Tavak Server
Tavak Server is one program. It runs on your Linux server, keeps everything in your PostgreSQL database with PostGIS, and you use it in a browser.
Sites and roles
A site is a project, a region or a contract. Each one has its own phones, forms, policy, data and managers. A site switcher at the top of the menu sets which site every page is showing.
| Role | What they can see |
|---|---|
| Administrator | The whole organisation. |
| Manager | Only the sites that have been granted to them. |
A manager of one site cannot reach another site’s phones, surveys or files. Anything outside a user’s sites answers as if it did not exist.

| Forms & layers | What the phones capture. |
| Deployments | What the phones carry. |

The live map
The Map page lets you follow the crew during the day.
- Positions on a schedule. Each phone reports at the interval the site sets. It never reports more often than every five minutes.
- The state of every phone. You see the last position with speed and heading, and whether the phone is surveying, paused, behind on its policy or silent.
- Tracks. Where each surveyor walked, per survey, in a colour of their own, for any range of dates.
- Photos and videos. They show up as their own layer, each with a thumbnail.
